Durch aktuelle Aufnahmesessions, seltenes Archivmaterial und in Gesprächen mit Blue Note-Stars wie Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Norah Jones, Robert Glasper und Ambrose Akinmusire erzählt der Film vom Aufbruch des Jazz bis hin zum Hip-Hop.
